Congratulations to Ramsha from our Year 7 THS Grammar Plus programme, for winning the Cambridge School Classics Project Ovid Competition with her impressive model of Hades, Lord of the Underworld.
This highly regarded, national competition from the Cambridge School Classics Project encourages children to be creative by performing, crafting, or writing a piece inspired by Greek Mythology and by Ovid’s poem “The Metamorphoses”. Around 200-300 students entered the competition, which makes Ramsha’s achievement even more impressive. We are very proud and congratulate her on her success.
Judge Dr Rosanna Omitowoju explained during the Prize Presentation (viewable here) that she thought Ramsha’s model was full of character and power, and that she loved the flowing movement and striking pose.
Ramsha is a THS Grammar Plus student – Thorpe Hall School’s selective grammar stream, which launched with its first cohort in September 2023. Find out more about THS Grammar Plus here
Year 7 student Sophie also received a certificate from the Cambridge School Classics Project for her submission in the ‘Creative Writing’ category. This certificate was for the fact that her entry made it into the final round of entries and that the judges wanted to reward her efforts with a ‘Special Commendation’ certificate. Sophie’s work was entirely of her own design and showed an excellent use of both language and structure to craft an engaging narrative in a sophisticated manner.
Well done to both students!
