Applying for a place:
We accept Nursery applications at any time, provided spaces are available.
Our Nursery is divided into two sections – the Nursery class, for girls and boys from the age of 2, and our Upper Nursery, which children progress to in the term after their 3rd birthday.
Children starting in our Nursery class can attend from a minimum of 3 sessions a week. Sessions gradually increase as children progress towards and into the Upper Nursery room. This helps prepare them gradually for a smooth and successful transition into Reception. Further information about our Nursery Sessions and Fees can be found here.
To book a tour of the Nursery and meet the team, contact our Admissions Secretary, Mrs Karena Sedgwick on 01702 582340 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and ask for an appointment. We will be delighted to show you around.
Complete and submit a Registration Form and pay the registration fee of £100. Please note, applications are registered from the date payment is received. Therefore, the place for your child is added to our Nursery roll at this point.
You can view and download a Nursery Registration form here.
The registration fee can be by BACS, credit or debit card. Details can be found on the registration form.
Subject to availability, we will offer you a place in the appropriate Nursery class for your child’s age at the desired start date.
Sign a short form to accept your place. We will post or email it to you, and you will need to return it within two weeks of receipt.
Many families apply for a place in our Nursery well in advance of the desired start date, and often when they are babies. If this is the case for you, we will invite you and your child to come and spend a short Stay & Play session with us within a few months of their start date. This gives us an opportunity to meet your child, if we have not done so, and to ensure we can fully support his/her all-round development*. We will also reconfirm your required sessions at this time, and talk through our settling-in process.
We offer a minimum of two ‘settling-in’ sessions for every child just before their start date. Your child will take part in the morning’s Nursery activities. These sessions are free of charge, and you are welcome to stay with your child for the first session; your child will attend unaccompanied for the second session.
Settling in may take longer for some children. This is absolutely no cause for concern, and we will be there to support you and your child throughout, to make the process as easy as possible, offering additional settling sessions if required.
Admission is offered to children who satisfy the entry criteria and who are deemed to be suitable recipients of a Thorpe Hall School education. Places are offered to completed applications on a first come, first served basis with the following exceptions: preference is given to children of staff, siblings of current pupils, siblings of ex-pupils. The school will also give priority to creating a balance of genders.
* We are committed to meeting the individual needs of our Nursery children. We will always assess if we have the structure and resources in place to support the learning and all-round development of every child. Occasionally, a child may need additional support which may affect the provision we can offer. The school will highlight concerns to parents as soon as possible and it is vital that parents advise us of any concerns they may have in relation to their child’s development before they start.
