As a fully inclusive, co-educational school, we are proud to celebrate our students’ excellent all-round achievements, and the enormous value we add to their learning, from Nursery to GCSE.
We challenge our pupils to outperform, whatever their ability. We seek out individual talents and actively encourage the best in everyone. At Thorpe Hall School, all students are motivated to enjoy a myriad of new and exciting opportunities and experiences. We pride ourselves on the individual attention we offer every child, whatever their age and whatever their needs.
Our mission is clear, our promise secure, and our commitment is genuine and unwavering. We are a school that listens, and every child’s voice is heard. Our open-door approach helps foster a refreshingly honest, active and forward-thinking school community.
This website will give you a first glimpse of the Thorpe Hall adventure, but the School is best experienced in person. You are most welcome to visit us for a tour of our School and a chat with our team.
We look forward to meeting your family.

Huge congratulations to our 2 The English-Speaking Union competition teams for making it through to the next round!
Both teams performed brilliantly in their heats earlier this term, debating the topics of childcare and prescription charges, and the next round will take place in the Spring term.
The prestigious ESU-Churchill Public Speaking Competition, sponsored by the International Churchill Society, is the largest such contest in England and Wales, with around 400 teams (each comprising a speaker, questioner and a chairperson).
The different roles allow students to practise and excel in different skill sets, and the competition’s unique format, which pairs the speaker from one school with the chair and questioner of another, encourages quick thinking and relationship building.
Most importantly, it’s great fun and a terrific way for students to develop their oracy skills in a friendly, supportive environment.

Calling all Old Thorpehallians!
Please help us spread the word to find old students and teachers to join our alumni community and help us celebrate in style in 2024/5!
Thorpe Hall School will be 100 years old in 2025, and plans are already underway for celebrations and events to bring students and staff, the school’s alumni, and the wider community together to mark the big occasion.
Founded at the request of Thorpe Bay residents in 1925, the school first opened its doors with a cohort of just six boys under the headship of the Rev. E de Russet, a respected Free Church Minister and educationalist.
Today, Thorpe Hall is a thriving co-educational, independent school with nearly 500 students on roll supported by over 120 dedicated staff.
The school is really keen to hear from Old Thorpehallians everywhere - to get in touch and sign up for news and updates about the school’s centenary plans, follow this link:
