✨ Staff Spotlight: Meet Mrs Waters, Assistant Head of Prep ✨
Next in our Staff Spotlight series, we’re celebrating Mrs Waters. From phonics teacher to Assistant Head of Prep, Mrs Waters has become an integral part of life at Thorpe Hall School, inspiring a love of reading, writing and confidence in every child she teaches.
Thorpe Hall School holds a very special place in Mrs Water's heart as her sons and nephews attended the school, giving her a first-hand view of the genuine care, strong values and lasting impact THS has on its pupils.
She joined the school in 2020 as a phonics teacher, then spent a year as the school’s in-house supply teacher, later securing a role as a Year 6 class teacher.
Today, Mrs Waters wears many hats as Assistant Head of Prep, Head of Prep English, KS2 English specialist and Year 5 Form Teacher. Her weeks are wonderfully varied and fast-paced, from teaching English across Key Stage 2 and working closely with her Year 5 class, to leading English across Prep and supporting pupils and staff both academically and pastorally.
She is especially passionate about helping children grow in confidence through reading and writing, encouraging a love of books and helping pupils find their own voice. With an NPQ in Leadership and an MA in Early Education, she is passionate about creating an inclusive curriculum that equips children with skills for life.
What does she love most about working at THS? The freedom to deliver an engaging curriculum that is shaped around the pupils in front of her, alongside working with fantastic colleagues and wonderful pupils every day.
Some of her favourite memories include unforgettable whole school events. From being covered with powder paint at the annual Colour Run after daring to join in the fun, to agreeing that every Year 5 and 6 pupil who made progress in English could throw a water balloon at her… a decision that left her completely drenched because every pupil did!
Fun fact: Her very first job was working on a fish counter and she can still fillet a salmon with surprising confidence! ... See MoreSee Less
