As a fully inclusive, co-educational school, we are proud to celebrate our students’ excellent all-round achievements, and the enormous value we add to their learning, from Nursery to GCSE.
We challenge our pupils to outperform, whatever their ability. We seek out individual talents and actively encourage the best in everyone. At Thorpe Hall School, all students are motivated to enjoy a myriad of new and exciting opportunities and experiences. We pride ourselves on the individual attention we offer every child, whatever their age and whatever their needs.
Our mission is clear, our promise secure, and our commitment is genuine and unwavering. We are a school that listens, and every child’s voice is heard. Our open-door approach helps foster a refreshingly honest, active and forward-thinking school community.
This website will give you a first glimpse of the Thorpe Hall adventure, but the School is best experienced in person. You are most welcome to visit us for a tour of our School and a chat with our team.
We look forward to meeting your family.

✨ Staff Spotlight: Mrs Markham, EYFS Lead and Reception Teacher ✨
As part of our series celebrating the dedication and passion of our staff, we are delighted to introduce Mrs Markham, our Preparatory School EYFS Lead and Reception Teacher.
Mrs Markham joined Thorpe Hall School in September 2013, inspired by the opportunity to teach beyond the curriculum and truly ignite a love of learning in young children. Beginning her journey as a Reception Teacher, she has since taken on additional roles as EYFS Lead and Head of Phonics, making a lasting impact across our Nursery and Prep School.
Her days are filled with energy and variety, from teaching core subjects in the classroom to supporting the Nursery and developing exciting new ideas within EYFS. As Head of Phonics, she is a constant source of guidance and support for colleagues.
Passionate about ensuring every child thrives, Mrs Markham is dedicated to helping pupils reach their full potential in a nurturing and encouraging environment. She recently completed a Master’s Degree in Childhood and Youth Studies, ensuring her teaching reflects the evolving nature of childhood in today’s world. As Barack Obama once said, “Reading is the gateway for children that makes all other learning possible”, a belief she brings to life every day through her enthusiasm for phonics.
What does she love most about THS?
“The children, the staff, and the opportunities I can give our littlest learners, THS is like a family.”
Some of her favourite memories include hatching chicks, school trips, transforming the lift into a spaceship for Science Week and seeing former pupils go on to pass their GCSEs.
Outside of school, Mrs Markham enjoys adventures with her rescue Cockerpoo, Lucy, and has been a dedicated member of Girlguiding UK for over 35 years. She is also a proud Queen’s Guide, the highest award in Girlguiding, presented to her in 2005 by Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. 👏
