The team has been competing in the Borough League since last September. They have played every school in the area on their journey to the top, and secured some great results along the way against very tough competition – including hard-fought matches against Westcliff High School for Girls, St Bernard’s and Belfairs Academy, among others. The girls battled their way through nine matches in all and were thrilled to receive confirmation that Team THS will be crowned Borough League Champions for 2022.
“We are so proud of the whole team,” said Jenny Sadgrove, Head of Girls’ PE at Thorpe Hall School. “They’ve been 100% committed to attending training, week in and week out, and have worked hard on their skills and fitness. It’s a brilliant result, given that some of the girls had never even played netball before starting here at Thorpe Hall and the high quality of the competition. I’m looking forward to them defending their title next season.”
Thorpe Hall’s Year 8 girls’ netball team has also had a great season out on the courts and played extremely well to secure a fantastic 3rd place Borough League finish.
“I am thrilled for both our brilliant netball teams, and their coaches.” added Thorpe Hall’s Headteacher, Stephen Duckitt. “They have played some very strong teams from bigger schools. It was great to hear how they kept their heads, worked together as a team and perhaps most importantly, believed in themselves. Conrgratlations to them all – it’s afantastic achievement.”
