Thorpe Hall School Sports Success – National and Borough Champions!

It has been an exceptional year for sport at Thorpe Hall School so far, with students achieving remarkable success across a wide range of sports, both regionally and nationally. From rugby to basketball, netball to football and golf, our teams and individuals have consistently demonstrated commitment, talent, and school spirit.

National Champions in Rugby 7s

Leading the way, our U14 Girls Rugby 7s team were crowned ISA National Champions after a phenomenal undefeated run at the prestigious ISA National Rugby Tournament. Competing against the top schools from across the country, the team displayed outstanding skill, resilience and teamwork to bring home the national title.

Basketball and Netball Borough Champions

Our U16 Netball Team made Thorpe Hall School history by winning the Southend Borough Championship, breaking a long-standing winning streak from Southend High School for Girls. Their determination and exceptional play, culminating in a thrilling final match that went to extra time, secured them a well-earned victory and gold medals.

In an equally impressive achievement, our U15 Girls Basketball team dominated the court to become Southend Borough Champions, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament.

National Bronze Medals for U13 Boys in Football and Rugby

Our U13 Boys also shone on the national stage, taking third place in both Football and Rugby 7s at the ISA National Finals. Competing against top teams from around the UK, their strong performances highlight the incredible progress made in our boys’ sports programmes, particularly rugby, where the team’s rapid development has been inspiring.

Golf Team are Essex Schools Team Champions

On the golf course, our Golf Team were crowned Essex Schools Team Champions, an extraordinary feat considering all three players are only in Year 9. The team will go on to represent Essex at the National Schools Championships in July at the prestigious Woodhall Spa.

Meanwhile, our younger pupils impressed too, with Year 3 pupil Cassandra winning the girls’ section at the Borough Golf Tournament at Garon Park, an incredible achievement for such a young competitor.

Across all age groups and sports, Thorpe Hall School athletes have demonstrated exceptional drive and sportsmanship. These achievements reflect not only the hard work and talent of our students, but also the dedication and expertise of our outstanding PE and coaching staff.

We are immensely proud of every student who has represented Thorpe Hall School this year. With more competitions and fixtures ahead, we look forward to even more sporting success in the months to come.
