Winner of the ISA Award for Excellence & Innovation in Early Years (Nursery and Reception)

The enriched curriculum designed by the Early Years team at Thorpe Hall School provides its youngest pupils with a wealth of opportunities for them to explore the world around them, develop their awareness and independence, grow in confidence and become successful learners. This was recognised with a national award for Excellence & Innovation in Early Years award by the ISA in 2017.

The children in Nursery and Reception classes learn French, practice Yoga, swim, dance, bake, discover Music and Drama, and all taught by specialists. Child-initiated learning is promoted, as well as applying skills independently – allowing children to transfer their skills into different situations.

The ISA Judges commented: “Thorpe Hall won because of the innovation shown in curricular and extra-curricular opportunities, such as a combined EYFS/Year 8 literacy programme and trips to a local residential home. Their holistic approach to child development, coupled with placing child happiness at the forefront of learning makes Thorpe Hall a very deserving winner”.
