Hats off to Tom Waters, a former Thorpe Hall School student (Class of ’22), for reaching a significant milestone in the pursuit of his dreams – earning a scholarship from the Trinity Laban School of Music and Dance.
Tom’s musical journey started with a taster lesson in violin back in Year 1, setting him on a trajectory of musical success from the age of just 5. We interviewed Tom back in 2022, his final year at Thorpe Hall School, when he was studying his GCSEs with us. He talked about his hopes for the future and his dream to play professionally as part of an orchestra.
Tom reflected on the support he received at Thorpe Hall, acknowledging our dedicated teachers, diverse music curriculum and extracurricular opportunities for helping nurture, develop and support his musical passion. We are thrilled to see how the aspirations he shared in this video are already steadily becoming his reality.
Following his time at Thorpe Hall School, Tom earned a scholarship to study A Level Music at
Felsted School. He is set to perform a viola concerto in a chapel concert at Junior Trinity in May 2024 —an esteemed opportunity granted to only four students, which will mark Tom’s debut with a small orchestra.
Now, with his “first choice”
Trinity Laban scholarship in hand, we’re sure a promising professional career in music awaits this exceptional ‘Old Thorpehallian’. Congratulations once again, Tom!
