Thorpe Hall School is non-selective.  We focus on ensuring that each learner makes maximum progress, irrespective of their baseline when they join the school and irrespective of their academic profile.  We also recognise that children all reach academic maturity at very different stages in their education journey.  Our philosophy is to support learning through exceptional teaching and innovative, positive engagement that allows them all to thrive academically.

GCSE Results 2025:

Thorpe Hall School is once again celebrating amazing GCSE results.

This year, over half of all GCSE grades awarded to Thorpe Hall School students were between grades 9 and 6, significantly higher than ever before. Even more impressively, over 1 in 5 students achieved a Value-Added (VA) outcome of 1.5 or above. This means that, across all subjects, these students performed more than 1.5 grades higher than predicted by their cognitive ability assessments (CAT4). These are not school-based predictions, but internationally standardised measures of academic potential, making this achievement particularly significant.

Remarkably, close to half of all students achieved a Value-Added outcome over 1, meaning they consistently outperformed expectations by more than a full grade in every subject above their cognitive assessed ability. This exemplifies a school where students in all subjects are comfortably outperforming against their innate academic potential.

We are equally proud to report that the average grade for the entire cohort is a 6. This is extremely high for a non-selective school and can only be achieved by high quality learning and teaching. Thorpe Hall School prides itself in being a school for everyone; we do not dictate our admissions on trying to achieve the best grades, we aim to enable learners of all abilities to outperform. Every learner is special at Thorpe Hall School, no matter what their academic potential. They all deserve the best opportunities to flourish.

These results are testament to a school that focuses on individual students’ strengths; a school that generates a positive learning environment where students of all abilities and different skills can flourish and succeed.

Mr Duckitt extends his heartfelt thanks to all parents and carers for their encouragement and support throughout the GCSE journey. He also congratulates the staff and students for their “resilience, determination and dedication” which have been key to these “highly commendable and praiseworthy” outcomes.

As a non-selective school Thorpe Hall School is determined that every student strives for success, aims higher and achieves more. We’re immensely proud of the students who achieved grade 8s and 9s across the board, and we are equally proud of every student that has surpassed their own predicted potential, a testament to the success of the ‘expect more’ mentality at the school.

Mr Duckitt and Thorpe Hall School are delighted to congratulate our Class of 24/25 for their outstanding efforts and achievements.
