From September 2026, children in Years 3 and 4 at Thorpe Hall School will enjoy regular, off-timetable ‘Discovery’ sessions.
Following on from our hugely successful Discovery afternoons enjoyed by students in Years 7 and 8, we are now bringing this concept to our Preparatory School.
In these sessions, children in Yars 3 and 4 will have an opportunity to try something completely different. Activities are designed to nurture curiosity, build confidence, and expand horizons, and children choose their own ‘Discovery’ activity from a different selection each term.
After nurturing childrens’ natural aptitudes in Reception – Year 2 via our Young Talent Pathways, this next stage in their education encourages them to push outside their comfort zone, explore new concepts and build confidence and resilience from trying new things.
The range of Discovery activities available will be designed to broaden horizons by offering things that children would never normally get to try at school. Some examples of the sorts of activities that may be offered are below:
| Street Dance | Lego Robotics | Escape Rooms | Healthy Cooking |
Jewellery Making |
| Code-Breaking | Fire Building | Expressive Arts | Greenscreen Animation |
Fashion Design |
| Assault Course | Watercolours | Tennis | Bespoke Trips linked to Discovery activities |
...and much, much more |
