Thorpe Hall is Sports School of The Year 2022

Thorpe Hall’s Preparatory School is the Southend Primary Schools Sports Association’s (SPSSA) Junior School of the Year for Sport 2022.  The news was delivered in person by SPSSA representatives, Kirk and Kirsty when they joined us on Presentation Day to make the announcement, and to present the trophy to two of our Prep Sports Captains – and an ecstatic Mrs Durban, our Prep Sport lead.

Our Prep School students benefit from specialist sports teaching from Reception Classes onwards, and have access to a broad programme of co-curricular clubs and activities. There are many opportunities to compete with a busy fixtures list across all age ranges.  Over the course of the year, THS Teams from Years 1 to 6 competed against primary schools in SPSSA supported fixtures, including:-

• In KS1 – Football, Tag Rugby, Athletics and Cross Country.
• In KS2 – Boccia, Curling, Cross Country, Table Tennis, Dance, Tennis, Quad kids, Athletics, Hockey, Dodgeball, Padel, Dance, Football, Tag Rugby and Rounders.

The opportunity to compete is further extended through our strong links with the Independent Schools Association and Thorpe Hall takes part in local, regional, and national inter-schools fixtures within the independent sector.

“What a fantastic end to an amazing year for sport at THS!’ said Mrs Durban, “Huge congratulations to all the Prep pupils that gave their all in every competition.”
