We are delighted once again to celebrate another outstanding set of results for our Year 11 cohort on GCSE results day today.
As has consistently been the case in recent years, Thorpe Hall’s students have once again achieved results above their predicted outcomes – a testament to their hard work over their last few terms at school.
Our students achieved an overall average Value Added (VA) score of 0.79. This means that students on average scored over 3/4s of a grade per subject higher than expected, based on their CAT4 academic forecasts. The overall average grade per student across the cohort was grade 6.
These results show the true value of hard work and resilience, and a commitment to academic progress demonstrated by our students and teaching staff.
Headlines:
- 1 in 3 students had a VA of over +1.5 – meaning they performed 1.5 grades above their CAT4 academic forecasts
- 84.7% of the cohort achieved grades 9 – 5 in English
- 88.1 % of the cohort achieved 9 – 4 in English and Maths
Other notable results:
- Excellent performances from Graphics, Food Tech, Business Studies and Religious Studies – all achieving a VA of over +1.5
- The English Department’s VA is an average of 0.92
- SEND students have performed incredibly, with an average VA of +1.53
It was a brilliant atmosphere at the school today, as students and their families, alongside the Senior staff of Thorpe Hall School, collected and celebrated their results. There were smiles, gasps and hugs all round, and we’re so proud of each and every student. We wish them all the absolute best for their next steps.
