About

EDI

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are central to our school and its ongoing development.

We are committed to these values and to promoting a positive and diverse culture in which all our stakeholders feel valued and supported – irrespective of their age, disability, race, religion, belief, gender or sexual orientation.

We recognise our duty to ensure our community is heard and cared for; we are dedicated to meeting all our obligations under the Equality Act 2010, ensuring our policies, training, and development reflect its principles.

Our goal is to cultivate a progressive, inclusive environment for everyone, underpinned by fair practice. At Thorpe Hall School, bullying, discrimination and harassment are not tolerated.

Thorpe Hall School is a progressive establishment, where every member of our community feels safe and proud to be who they are.

Thorpe Hall School provides an education for all pupils that:

  • Celebrates individuality
  • Is fully inclusive and challenges stereotyping
  • Is responsive to the needs of pupils and the local community

Across all areas of the school, pupils regardless of age or ability are supported so that they can achieve their full potential. Children identified as needing additional support benefit from a dedicated Learning Support Team and impressive intervention spaces known as the Learning Development Centre (one in Senior and one in Prep). Whenever possible, our staff teach in a dyslexia friendly manner and our classrooms support this style of teaching. Thorpe Hall School is proud of the well forged links it has with local specialists including: Educational Psychology, ADHD & Dyspraxia Specialists, Southend Nursing Services, Speech and Language and play therapy . Pupils also benefit from small class sizes, and sessions with our learning mentor / school counsellor, Mrs Barlow.

Understanding and embracing different perspectives is key to our long-term success. We invite everyone in our community to share their views and experiences and tell us how we could do better. You can telephone the school on 01702 582340, email sec@thorpehallschool.co.uk or complete the form below.
