Thorpe Hall School is immensely proud of its excellent record of attainment in sports and performing arts, with notable successes both regionally and nationally in individual and team/group performances, competitions, productions, fixtures and festivals. In recognition and encouragement of pupils who show real talent and potential for excellence, we are pleased to offer sports and performing arts scholarships in our Preparatory School to pupils in Years 3 and 4 only.
Application Window – Applications are invited from current THS pupils and from external candidates at any time from September 2023 up until candidates are in Year 4. We cannot accept applications before the start of the summer term of Year 2 (for Year 3 entry) or after 1st April of Year 4 (for Year 4 entry).
Award Discounts – Awards will be given based on individual pupil ability, and THS scholarships can carry up to 50% maximum discount on fees. The scholarship will remain in place up until the end of Year 6, provided that the student meets all the requirements set out below.
Successful applicants will be academically able and ambitious and are expected to make a significant contribution to the performing arts life of the School, and in particular, to participate in school productions, showcases, concerts and competitions.
Candidates will have significant strengths in one or more of the following disciplines: drama, dance, music, public speaking etc. It is likely that they will be already playing a major part in their school’s performing arts and be actively involved in relevant activities outside of school. Scholars are expected to take an active and enthusiastic lead with regard to all performing arts activities and events at THS and to be pupils who demonstrate the School’s core values.

Applicants will be invited for assessment. Assessment days will take place at different times of the academic year, and a mutually convenient time will be arranged as soon as possible after an application has been received.

It is likely that successful applicants will already be playing a significant part in their school sport teams and performing at club level or above. Scholars are expected to take an active and enthusiastic lead in all sports at THS, make a positive contribution and demonstrate the THS core values.
