Thorpe Hall School is looking to create a new post of Site Manager. The school has been on its current 11 acre site since 1989 and the buildings date from 1989 through to 2006, with a brand new Sports hall about to break ground, making a total of four buildings. The caretaking staff are currently:
1 Full-time Caretaker
1 Three-days-a-week Caretaker / Carpenter
1 Full time Groundsman
All three workers share locking up and opening up duties.
The school is potentially open every day of the year except between (roughly) December 19th and January 2nd. The school has recently started to hire its facilities on a regular basis at weekends, school holidays and evenings – hence the need to expand staffing.
Job Description The Site Manager will be expected to line manage the caretaking and grounds staff, ensuring that rotas are fair and efficient and that caretaking cover is in place as required by the Development Officer and Senior Leadership Team. The management style employed by the Site Manager will be in line with the ethos of the school and the style currently adopted by the Leadership Team. Workers at Thorpe Hall School are treated with the utmost respect and expected to perform their duties with the minimum of direction.
The Site Manager will assume the role of Health and Safety Officer, with both a policy and on-the-ground oversight of the school’s operation. The school has recently commissioned a review of H & S and a new policy needs to be written in the light of this review; the Site Manager will take joint responsibility for this with the Headteacher.
The Site Manager will report on Health and Safety and site maintenance to the Governing Body through attendance at the termly Health and Safety Meetings.
The Site Manager will be responsible for leading the management of maintenance of the entire site, including the minibuses and will report to the Headteacher. A full clean driving licence is required.
Hours Contracted hours will be for 48 hours per week plus statutory holiday entitlement. Some weekend working is required. The salary for this post reflects this arrangement and candidates need to be mindful of the flexibility in working hours before applying for this position.
Start Date 1st September or earlier depending on notice.
Salary Scale Starting at between £26k and £28k and rising, according to satisfactory performance, to £32k.
