Welcome to Thorpe Hall School
A message from Headteacher, Andrew Hampton.
Our pupils have a happy and positive school life, rich in variety and with a wealth of opportunity for them to be challenged, supported and successful. We place emphasis on teaching pupils how to learn and how to develop the skills they need to become life-long learners so that, wherever life takes them, they can always be the best they can be.
Founded in 1925, Thorpe Hall is a forward-thinking school with the traditional values of hard work, respect, and good manners. We are a modern, child-centred setting with an outstanding record in educating children for their next stage in life.
In our last full inspection, we received a glowing report from the Independent School’s Inspectorate. You can view our summary document or a full copy of the report. You can also read our most recent compliance only inspection report here.
The school has been recognised by the Independent Schools Association for Excellence & Innovation in Senior Provision, Excellence & Innovation in Early Years and for Innovative Use of ICT to support learning. The Sunday Times has also ranked Thorpe Hall among the top 100 Prep Schools in the UK for the last three years.
Thorpe Hall has charitable status and is not-for-profit. This means, all financial surpluses are available to re-invest in the school and its pupils and enabling us to provide some exceptional facilities including a professionally equipped Theatre, state-of the-art Art Loft and a £2m Sports Centre.
If you would like to see the school for yourself, please contact the office and ask for an appointment to see me – or Mrs Leslie, our Head of Lower School. We will be delighted to meet you and show you around our exceptional school.
