Welcome to Thorpe Hall Upper School
Pupils attend our Upper School from age 11 to 16 years and become strong, independent learners – able to use their initiative, think for themselves and achieve their goals.
We employ many innovative, and often courageous, approaches to education, all designed to inspire our adolescent pupils and promote their engagement. With abundant opportunities to experience a broad range of activities, both in the classroom and outside, we enable every pupil to achieve and succeed.
These life-enhancing prospects are underpinned by an emphasis on self-discipline, the values of perseverance and determination and smart, up-to-the-minute use of information technology to support both teaching and learning.
Our curriculum balances active, practical and stimulating areas of learning and every pupil is carefully steered towards academic success, personal development and individual achievement.
At GCSE, alongside the core subjects of Maths, English, Literature and Science, pupils select pathways from a broad provision offering greater choice than at any other senior school setting in the area.
As a non-selective school, we are proud of the exceptionally high academic standards achieved year-on-year at GCSE. However, our overriding objective is to provide an outstanding education which extends beyond academic success and to promote a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
“The Senior Leadership Team’s strong vision for the school has a highly successful impact in promoting the pupils’ good achievements and excellent personal development”
“Through well planned and balanced programmes, thoughtfully constructed, pupils develop key skills and acquire knowledge readily and successfully. This helps towards fulfilling the school’s aim to realise their potential.”
