Admissions Guide

Applying for a place:

We accept Nursery applications at any time, provided spaces are available.

Our Nursery is divided into two sections – the Pre-Nursery for girls and boys of 2 and 3 years old, and the Nursery where the children are 3 and 4 years old. Children can attend the Pre-Nursery from as little as 3 sessions a week. Sessions gradually increase as children progress through Pre-Nursery and into Nursery, helping prepare them gradually for a smooth and successful transition into Reception. Further information about our Nursery Sessions and Fees, can be found here link

3

Offer

Subject to availability, we will offer you a place in the Pre-Nursery or Nursery for your child.

4

Accept

Sign a short form to accept your place. We will post or email it to you, and you will need to return it within two weeks of receipt. We will then arrange dates and times for your child’s initial ‘settling in’ sessions.

5

Stay & Play (where applicable)

Many families apply for a place in our Nursery well in advance of them starting, often when they are babies. We will therefore invite you and your child to come and spend a short Stay & Play session with us within 6 months of their start date (where applicable). This gives us an opportunity to meet your child, if we have not done so, and to ensure we can fully support his/her all-round development*. We will also reconfirm sessions and arrangements with you and talk through our settling-in process.

6

Settling-In Sessions

We will arrange two ‘settling-in’ sessions for your child to take part in the morning’s Nursery activities. These sessions are free of charge, and you are welcome to stay with your child for the first session.  Settling in may take longer for some children. This is perfectly usual, and we will be there to support you and your child throughout, to make the process as easy as possible.

Admissions Policy

Admission is offered to children who satisfy the entry criteria and deemed to be suitable recipients of a Thorpe Hall School education. Places are offered to completed applications on a first come, first served basis with the following exceptions: preference is given to children of staff, siblings of current pupils, siblings of ex-pupils. The school will also give priority to creating a balance of genders.

See our full Admissions Policy here. See our Terms & Conditions here.

* We are committed to meeting the individual needs of our Pre-Nursery and Nursery children and our Reception Class pupils.  We will always assess if we have the structure and resources in place to support the learning and all-round development of every child. Occasionally, a child may need additional support which may affect the provision we can offer. The school will highlight concerns to parents as soon as possible and it is vital that parents advise us of any concerns they may have in relation to their child’s development before they start.

For Entry to Reception in September – at the start of the academic year.

We accept applications for our Reception Class/es at any time, provided spaces are available.
