As a fully inclusive, co-educational school, we are proud to celebrate our students’ excellent all-round achievements, and the enormous value we add to their learning, from Nursery to GCSE.
We challenge our pupils to outperform, whatever their ability. We seek out individual talents and actively encourage the best in everyone. At Thorpe Hall School, all students are motivated to enjoy a myriad of new and exciting opportunities and experiences. We pride ourselves on the individual attention we offer every child, whatever their age and whatever their needs.
Our mission is clear, our promise secure, and our commitment is genuine and unwavering. We are a school that listens, and every child’s voice is heard. Our open-door approach helps foster a refreshingly honest, active and forward-thinking school community.
This website will give you a first glimpse of the Thorpe Hall adventure, but the School is best experienced in person. You are most welcome to visit us for a tour of our School and a chat with our team.
We look forward to meeting your family.

Our Jazz Band and Show Choir represented Thorpe Hall School at the Southend Makes Music Festival at The Palace Theatre this month. This annual event brings schools from around Southend together to showcase their hard work.
The Thorpe Hall School Jazz Band was formed in 2022 and the Show Choir in 2023. They have grown hugely in this time, both in numbers and in proficiency. They have enjoyed performing a varied and fresh repertoire of music throughout this time and this is the first live performance for the groups in front of such a large crowd and in a prestigious public venue, so they were all very excited!
The vocals from Freya and Viola with the Jazz Band were “simply stunning” – as quoted by an audience member at the performance, with their improvised solos being "confident and assured”.

A huge thank you to School Governor Dr. Mathew Hampshire-Waugh for spending time with our Senior Student Leadership Team's Environmental Committee recently.
Dr Hampshire-Waugh is passionate about driving sustainability in the corporate world, and it was hugely valuable to our students to hear about how his career path, passion and knowledge have led him to found his consulting business. He shared some amazing insights from his experiences of advising corporates and financial institutions on climate change risks and how to decarbonize their operations and portfolios.
He reminded students that qualities like perseverance and passion, which are integral to the school’s lessons and Future Ready programs, play a key role in career success.
We’re excited to see how the Environmental Team will take inspiration from Mathew’s meeting with them, and how they will use their own blend of school knowledge, scientific insights, and business acumen to drive sustainability throughout Thorpe Hall School, our local community, and the wider world in their own futures.
You can read more about Dr Hampshire-Waugh's visit on our website: www.thorpehall.southend.sch.uk/school-governor-dr-mathew-hampshire-waugh-meets-the-senior-leaders...
