Drama at Thorpe Hall School
Drama is a particular strength of the school and pupils have the opportunity to participate in productions, both on stage and behind the scenes.
Our state-of-the-art theatre has professional quality lighting and sound equipment, along with seating for 250 people. From full-scale musicals to student-directed work and role-play, Drama lessons are held in this exceptional space and structured to help develop qualities such as teamwork, creativity, leadership, communication and self-awareness.
For those who prefer life behind the scenes, there are also opportunities to learn the skills of lighting and sound technicians, wardrobe and make-up assistants or scenery artists.
Recent productions have included Jesus Christ Superstar, Pinocchio, Annie, Alice and Beauty and the Beast. Thorpe Hall also participates in the national Shakespeare Schools Festival (SSF), with Lower and Senior School groups performing abridged plays such as Hamlet, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Macbeth and Titus Andronicus in a professional theatre for a paying audience.
