Shakespeare Schools Festival 2016
Thorpe Hall pupils from Years 5 and 6 joined over 40,000 students performing Shakespeare durig November as part of the annual Shakespeare Schools Festival – the UK’s largest national youth drama festival.
More that 1,500 individual performances of the Bard’s best-loved plays took place with schools presenting their own creative interpretations of Shakespeare in professional Theatres across the country.
Thorpe Hall chose Richard III and Hamlet for this year’s festival and months of preparation culminated in an exhilarating performance evening for the young actors, in front of a paying audience at The Palace Theatre in Westcliff.
“It was a fabulous evening and we were super-proud of our pupils.” said Amanda Leslie, Head of Lower School. “So much hard work goes into these productions – by the children and their fantastic teachers – and it certainly payed off. They were both stunning performances. We were blown away!”
